The Success Of Bon Jovi

Anyone who listens to music at all can name at least one song by the iconic band Bon Jovi. In fact, it is nearly impossible to spend a night in a bar without having Living On A Prayer come on the jukebox and hearing everyone sing along. Thanks to their great songs and down home vibe, Bon Jovi has found great success in a musical career that now spans decades.

Bon Jovi formed in 1983 in the little town of Sayreville, New Jersey, which is the hometown of front man Jon Bon Jovi. The lineup includes Bon Jovi himself, as well as guitarist Richie Sambora, drummer Tico Torres, bassist Hugh McDonald and keyboardist David Bryan. One of the things that makes Bon Jovi so unique, and perhaps is a contributing factor to their success, is that their lineup has remained, for the most part, the same throughout their more than twenty years together.

One special distinction that Bon Jovi can boast is that they are the only rock and roll band to ever have a number one hit on the Billboard Hot Country Chart. In 2006, they recorded the song “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” with Jennifer Nettles, who fronts the popular country band Sugarland. The song was a runaway hit on both rock and roll and country charts, making it a crossover sensation in the truest sense of the word.

Interestingly enough, this song also marks the only Grammy award that the band Bon Jovi has ever received. They were honored with the Grammy for Best Country Collaboration for the record. They have been previously nominated for eight Grammys that they did not win, but they have been honored with various other awards such as American Music Awards and MTV Video Music Awards.

For over twenty years, Bon Jovi has been recording and performing songs that have become modern day anthems. By sticking together throughout the years, they have been able to produce a well defined sound that is unlike any other band. They show no signs of stopping, and it will be exciting to see what they deliver in the next twenty years of their amazing career.
